Kobe, Japan
As part of the Intercontinental group, the ANA Crowne Plaza is a hotel that is positioned in the upper end of
the middle market. The hotel is popular and iconic in Kobe and sees the wedding business, while highly competitive, as a lucrative revenue stream. Responding to market forces, the hotel decided to take advantage of a superior location and market position by adding a wedding salon.
The concept of the salon is based on two ideas: procession and light. Conceptually, we used the romantic image of Venice with its rich and artisanal history. The customer enters the salon and proceeds to a counter that acts like a pulpit. It is here that the initial contact with between the client and the staff happens. The window treatment is meant to emulate traditional Venice glass and the floor pattern evokes the feeling of an old Italian church.
